Hello everyone, I know I know it has been a while that I didn’t give you news. And believe me there are lots of news to give. First of all thank you to all my friends for their wonderful messages for my birthday!!! You know it is really good to be me ;)

Now let me tell you what I have done the last few weeks. I enjoyed the sunny weather and went out a lot in Geneva. I did a crazy week-end in Milan, and I had an amazing week in Sardinia.
I will talk about my trips later; but for now let me talk to you about my birthday, and what I did …
Last year I did a big thing in Istanbul, so this year wanted to go mellower and I wasn’t really in the mood of organizing a big party. This year my sister, who kept asking me what I wanted to do, decided to stop waiting on me and called some friends and organize a small dinner at the Hotel President Wilson.

Hotel President Wilson is situated by the lake on the rive droite, and has a great lounge/terrace around the pool, and a restaurant called “Bayview”. This summer they do every Thursday night happy hour and they bring little canapés from their Lebanese restaurant, “Arabesque”. I never managed to go to any and I really wanted to try it, so I could talk about it.

The place is really beautiful; you have a great view of the lake. The only inconvenient; and this is more for the hotel guests, the “pool” view is actually “room” view. The pool is built in the middle of the building, so one side of it has the rooms with no tinted windows. This basically means when you ask a room with lake view, you have the pool and the restaurant view as well. And you have the opportunity to offer a peep show to the diners ;) Joke aside I think it is a pity to have a beautiful view, but never enjoy it because you keep your curtains closed as you are scared people might see you in your room’s intimacy…

At my table I was sitting pool/room view side as I know how the Leman Lake looks like and I am more curious what happens in the rooms…
You can chose between two menus and a la carte dishes; as we like to be complicated, my mother asked the Maitre d’ to talk to the Lebanese restaurant and that we wanted some food from them as well. Yes yes I know, the apple never falls to far from the tree, why do you think I became whom I am :)
What I like about the restaurant is that instead of giving us the typical answer “oh we cannot do that, house rules”, they right away called someone from the other restaurant so we can be happy. Believe me, it might seem so what to some of you, but in Geneva, it is a big plus.

We ended up sharing few appetizers from the Bayview restaurant, and few dishes from the Arabesque restaurant. The food was quite decent, we had bubbles to celebrate. I think the only thing that I can criticize would be the service. They are all lovely but they should come and check on us more often. We ended up doing our own Champagne service, as we would have died of thirst waiting for them to pay us attention. I am happy that they were not like my water filler waiter (the one from La Finestra) but come on, find the middle. Especially when you consider that the income of a restaurant is based more on the drinks than on food….

Oh well, I had a good evening, great company and the most important great gifts ;) and if you are still curious, no peep show from a hot guest, just someone who was very into dental hygiene (he brushed his teeth for at least 6 minutes)…

Thank you sis to organize, thanks mom to invite and thanks guys to be there!!!!

With the beautiful weather, so many events are happening in Geneva… yes yes Geneva is happening. Last night I first went to the President Wilson hotel, for a Brazilian bikini fashion show, and then joined my friends at Cotton Pub, for a Moët & Chandon event.

So let’s start with The President Wilson, honestly I never think to go there near the pool at the Bayview restaurant, but I think I should start considering it… I am planning to go on a regular night to taste the food, but right now I can say that the setting is amazing. You have a great view of the lake, it is not too big, nor too small …(is it me or I just sounded like “Goldie Locks”? )

Anyway, so last night there was the fashion show of a Brazilian bikini line, sold exclusively at the hotel’s spa. As nothing is easy in Geneva, arriving to the hotel was a big challenge as well. I guess every person who saw the sun, took his/her car to verify if it was real or not. The Mont – Blanc bridge was packed. Once arrived at the hotel, the valet refused to take any more cars and asked everyone to use the Hotel’s parking. The only problem was that my friend who had arrived before, tried it, but the door of the parking was blocked, so nobody could get in or get out…. So after turning half an hour in Paquis to find a spot, I literally left my car on the side of the road. Once arrived to the promise land, between the nice weather, the Brazilian music, and the models wearing the beachwear walking around the pool… I finally realized that summer is on. They were off course offering Caipirinhas and all other sort of Curaçao based cocktails. Personally, I just went with my bubbles.

After Le President, I went to meet up with some other friends at the Cotton Pub. I have to admit I am not a big fan of that pub… and I never got the reason why people are very into it, but last night they were doing their yearly Moët & Chandon event, so I decided to try it out. It consists to promote the bubbles by decreasing their price, a champagne bar and tents are installed, and it seriously attracts lots of people. It was full from 6pm the happy hour till, 2.30 am where I finally decided that it was time to stop my bubbles juice fasting and I needed to go home and get some food. It was nice to see some old friends in the crowd, but interesting also to see few interesting (and I am being nice) people, who seemed to be there simply because they saw the light and the crowd in this case.

So even though I am not a Cotton Pub addict, I would try to catch up this event, because it was really fun. Tonight there is another happy hour event at the President, so if you are in town and don’t know what to do, you should simply swing by ;)

Come discover Geneva’s most Exclusive outdoor Terrace pool, Bayview at the President Wilson Hotel!
Live music will be played by DJ Edmond Doux Jesus, and Lebanese mezzes from the hotel’s famous restaurant L’Arabesque will be offered for all guests!

This morning, I woke up again at 5am to catch my Milano flight. Now that Fly Baboo doesn’t operate on that line, I bought my ticket with Twin Jet, or as I will call it, the disaster. I should have sensed it when I poured the hot coffee on my jeans at home that my trip was going to be a hell.
I really think that the personnel at Geneva airport is just hired to be decorative, no one has any idea of nothing. And the ladies at Air France desk … well I guess if they spend a little less time on painting their face, they could actually be useful. One thing is sure they are not hired for their IQ. Believe me it was a challenge to check in, although my flight is Twin Jet, a sub company of Air France, I needed to check in with Dnata…. ohh and you have to call them so they can come to do your check in. The cherry on top of the cake was when “the super smart” guy behind the desk told me to make sure to go to the bathroom before the flight, as the plane didn’t have any WC.
When I saw the plane I got why, it seemed that a big plane spit that one… only 9 rows, and the pilot, who casually explained us what to do if we crash, pilot the plane in front of me. I guess if I weren’t scared for my life, I would find it cool to see him manipulate during takeoff and landing. After an hour of fear for my life, we arrived to Milano Malpensa where my luggage never came. They actually managed to lose a luggage that I saw them charging on the tiniest plane I saw in my life.
So here I am, in Milano with no clothes, no cable for my pc to charge it, and especially no news from the company. I keep calling the number they gave me, no one never picks up… you can imagine my frustration. When I arrived to Hotel Cavour, the front desk person wasn’t astonished about my situation. He told me that it happens a lot, and that he will try calling them as well, but I shouldn’t have too much hope.
I have chosen Hotel Cavour, because it is literally 2 minutes away from via della Spiga, but I didn’t expect my room being that bad. It was quite tiny, and my tv’s screen was smaller than my pc’s screen. I bought internet for 24 hours, but the connection was very low or inexistent, so I didn’t really manage to use it. So do I advise this hotel? Well I guess it depends on what you are expecting; if you just want a nice hotel, nice stay, nice people… shouldn’t be your first choice. But if you are looking for just a place to sleep by the happening area, go for it.
One of my reasons to pick that hotel up was also that it was 5 minutes away from Nobu. And off course I had to return and see my cute bartender Andrea, eat the yummy food, and just because I didn’t want to go back to my small room, go to “Prive”. It’s Armani Nobu’s night club. It was really fun, when we arrived I was the oldest person there, including the friend with whom I was. Then the crowd started to change, there was a mix of ages and professions. I even met a definitely working lady, who told that she was a “desperate housewife”. Believe me she didn’t look that desperate next to her client;)
As usual it was a successful Nobu night, and it kind of made me forget my horrible day… Let’s hope they find my suitcase tomorrow

Last night I went with a friend to the terrace opening of Hotel Le Richemond in Geneva. At the beginning I thought they were opening a new terrace and was really wondering where it could be, as although the hotel is beautiful, it doesn’t have that kind of space.
And off course with my luck it was pouring outside….The hotel has a valet parking, but only for expensive cars. And as they refused my little Fiat Panda last year, they lost me as a client, and normally I never go there.
Last night wanted to give another chance, and also was quite curious to see the opening of a terrace under the rain.
After struggling for a parking spot we arrived at the hotel. The Terrace opening was obviously happening indoors, and the “Terrace” is actually the little patio of the restaurant where they put normally 3 tables. They just organize this drink, to announce the summer, and the BIG opening of their terrace, which is between us smaller than my terrace at home.
The minute that we entered two people asked us if we would like to coat check and a third one offered us a drink, then we started to circulate sipping our bubbles, tasted few appetizers walking around. For me the hit was “the filet de boeuf” bite with Bearnaise sauce (unfortunately saw it only once).
The crowd was different than usual Geneva crowd, I actually believe that these people were there because they were the hotel clients, and wanted to make connections and not the usual crowd who enters because they see the light and they want free booze and food.
When we finally decided to leave, two ladies who were behind a flower stand, gave us a little bag with red and white paeonies, which was a nice touch.
I really liked the welcome and the good bye, made few connections, so it was a good night after all. I guess Le Richemond really wanted to announce the summer; it is just the Geneva forecast which was against it…
